A wise teacher of mine once compared life to boarding a ship that is destined to sail out to sea and sink. Although our vision may be momentarily clouded by the shadows and storms of what comes and goes, this fluid mystery of life and death can become transparent in an instant if we simply awaken to its underlying purpose: the eternal quest of love towards its own total and complete self-awareness.
Even in the midst of this virtual voyage there is a great drowning beckoning us, though it is nothing we need fear. When it all finally sinks in – the recognition that we are only here for the sake of love — we can relax and let love live us until at last we are drawn back into its luminous depths.
In the great cosmic fervor of love to know itself, we were formed and tasked to explore every unique and individual facet of love’s infinite being. All sailors return to the sea at last, and so too are we returned to the shoreless ocean of love, where everything that we have lived and learned – all of our experience — is joyously shared with the all-encompassing totality of ourself.
That pure Energy is nothing other than the love that launched us, that waved us off from the shore, that weathered the storms, that went down with the ship, that silently drifted through the deathly dark void, only to rise again in the resurrection bodies that we wear for love in our homecoming in light.
