Five Social Graces

aimlessly scrolling the endless page
a net of fake jewels, of cubic zirconium
what is reflected, a mob of thoughts
seeking confirmation of themselves

what happens to all the labor done
in dreams, is there some dreamy payday
who collects what, a fist-full of air
why do we love it so, this empty fantasy

don’t be tempted, turn away, quickly now
one part wants another part proven wrong
wants your agreement for the surrogate candidate
do you love me, do you . . . love . . . me

entering the stream you become the stream
becoming the stream you forget it’s a dream
everyone is splashing about, slapping water
at each other, children play, no one to blame

look at me, look at me, now this is you
reflected in the mirroring form of me, look
take a picture, pass it around, please
click on it, click on it, like it, like me
