All of It

The part of you that is yourself
is the same as that which is myself,
the same part that is everyone
gazing out of every open eye,
feeling everything we feel
in unspeakable collective intimacy,
just a stupendous avalanche of feeling
in response to the appearance of everything —
its magical arrival and disappearance —
like a falling leaf, a ripple on a pond,
a drawn-out dream of living and dying,
or the loving arms of some child-like god
gently reaching around to embrace itself,
mindless in its brimming ecstasy.

And no, nothing is happening,
there is nothing to show for it,
even the deepest feeling is fleeting,
it is all fleeting, all simultaneous
with the precise awareness of it,
perfect stillness simultaneous with noise,
both fused like passion-fed lovers turning
in a bed of space, passing time back and forth
from merging mouths in great rushes of kisses,
not knowing any past or looming future,
just this kiss that contains life and death,
that holds the great cosmic chaos on its tongue,
tenderly, tenderly, both now
and then forever,
we are feeling it together, feeling it
as if we are that, tasting all of it,
all of it tasting itself, loving itself,
and it is so fine, all of it!
